World’s first hydrogen-powered cruise ship to launch next year
Fincantieri and Viking have revealed plans for the world’s first hydrogen-powered cruise ship, the Viking Libra, set to launch in late 2026.
Currently under construction at the Ancona shipyard in Italy, the ship will use onboard-stored hydrogen for both propulsion and electricity generation, thanks to a hydrogen propulsion system and advanced fuel cells. The 239-meter vessel will carry up to 998 guests and is designed for zero-emissions operation, enabling it to navigate even the most environmentally sensitive areas.
