Bunkering association raises concern over new STS regulation
The Bunker Industry Association of South Africa (BIASA) has raised concerns over the new Offshore Ship-to-Ship (STS) regulations by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries & the Environment (DFFE) on 28 August 2025.
As representatives of a regulated sector, BIASA emphasizes its commitment to environmental responsibility and compliance with both local and international standards. However, it stresses that regulations must also uphold fair competition, equal opportunity, and open market dynamics.
