NGOs call on the IMO to reject biofuels as a green solution
As IMO’s ISWG-GHG-21 session to shape shipping’s decarbonization pathway is underway, environmental and conservation groups are urging member states to reject the inclusion of biofuels as a “green” solution.
Delegates convened for the first day on 20 April at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) headquarters for the 21st session of the Intersessional Working Group on Greenhouse Gases (ISWG-GHG-21), set to take place until 24 April. In view of this, also on 20 April, a number of conservation and environmental justice organizations – lead by Biofuelwatch and Global Forest Coalition – issued a call to member states to not allow biofuels
