Industry and academia join forces over ammonia as a maritime fuel
Ammonia’s potential as a future fuel for the maritime sector is being explored through a new feasibility study led by Ricardo, in collaboration with Brunel University London and the Port of Cromarty Firth.
The study will investigate how ammonia could support the sector’s decarbonisation efforts while also developing a concept for a next-generation ammonia combustion engine. The project, known as FASTMOVE, forms part of the Department for Transport–funded UK SHORE initiative, which seeks to accelerate the transition to a sustainable maritime industry while fostering economic growth across the UK.
