SL2017-648/JNN New Gasket Material for Roller Guide Housing

With SL2016-627 we introduced a 10 mm washer and longer installation bolts for the roller guide housing as a preventive measure to reduce the risk of incidents caused by insuffi cient tightening of the installation bolts. A few roller guide housing incidents have been reported even after introduction of the above-mentioned washer and bolt update.

In the majority of the cases, the incident occurs on new engines relatively short time after the engines are put in service.

During operation, the roller guide housing is exposed to high dynamic forces causing some relative movement between the gaskets and the housing.  This movement may in some cases form wear on the gasket surface, and thus the clamp force on the installation bolts may be reduced with the following risk of a roller guide housing incident.
